FERSFIELD. WEDDING. - This village was the scene of a pretty and interesting wedding on Tuesday, April 29th. The contracting parties were Mr. Alan G. Garnham elder son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Garnham, of Garboldisham, and Gertrude, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Hall, Fersfield. The church was kindly decorated by Miss Woodcock, and many friends assembled to witness the ceremony. The bride was given away by her father, and the Rev. C. L. Kennaway, Rector of Garboldisham, performed the nuptial ceremony, being assisted by the Rev. C. E. Woode, rector of the parish. The former also gave a short and suitable address. The hymn “The voice that breathed o'er Eden” and the psalm were sung during the service, Miss Woodcock kindly presiding at the organ. The happy pair left the church under a shower of confetti. The bride wore a pretty dress of silver grey, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of white flowers. The bridesmaid were Miss J. H. Hall (sister of the bride), and Miss G. N. Garnham (sister of the bridegroom). They were attired in dresses of blue serge, trimmed with cream net and black satin, and wore black hats trimmed with black plumes and wreath of pale pink roses, also gold brooches, gifts of the bridegroom, and carried bouquets of narcissi and pink tulips. Mr. Oscar Garnham (brother of the bridegroom), officiated as best man. A reception was afterwards held in the old school-room (permission being kindly given by the trustees), where about thirty guests assembled. The bridegroom, who is a member of the Ringers' Association, and the Garboldisham Church Choir and Company of Ringers, and the bride, who is also a member of the same choir, were overwhelmed with good wishes, and were the recipients of about fifty useful presents. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Garnham left in the evening for their home in North Lopham. In honour of the event the Garboldisham Company of Ringers met in the evening at St. John Baptist’s Church and rang a wedding peel of 2640 changes of Plain Bob Minor, in 1 hour and 30 minutes, the company standing as follows: - F. Chaplin treble, W. Bloomfield 2nd, S. Moule 3rd, T. Seapey 4th, J. Bason 5th, J. Bennett tenor; conducted by Mr. J. Bason. |
